Ice cream social will benefit Honor Flight Arizona
Special to the Courier The Prescott Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) will be sponsoring its annual Ice Cream Social on Saturday, July 5, at the Las Fuentes Care Center, 1035 Scott Drive in Prescott. The net proceeds from this special annual event will be donated to Honor Flight Arizona to help provide funding for World War II veterans to travel to Washington, D.C., to see the World War II Memorial. Many World War II veterans in Arizona, as well as the other states, are being given the opportunity to fly to the Nation's Capital, accompanied by a Guardian volunteer from Honor Flight Organizations from each state to assist the Veteran on the trip, to make sure that their trip is safe and enjoyable. There are 400 Honor Flight organizations located throughout the United States, including two in Arizona, working to raise the funds to allow World War II veterans to make the trip, without cost to the veteran. As each year passes, World War II veterans are declining in number, so the Honor Flight Organization nationwide, wants to raise as much money as possible each year to take as many of the veterans as possible, to visit these important monuments, as a way of thanking them for their service.

The Prescott Chapter of the SAR has chosen this cause out of respect to all those who served our country during the Second World War. Everyone can help by attending the Ice Cream Social on Saturday, July 5 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Las Fuentes Care Center. Tickets for this event will be available at the door at a cost of $4 each. The Prescott Chapter of the SAR and all WWII Veterans of Arizona appreciates your support for this worthy cause.
